Reliable sources in the presidential palace confirmed to radio simba that President AbduAlahi Yusuf opposed the firing of Mogadishu mayor and Banadir region governor Mohamed Omar Habeeb.

Mr habeeb was sacked by prime minister, Nuur Hassan Hussein after he was accused of administrative failures and disobedience.

Mr. Habeeb was one of the Somali notorious warlords who divided the country into tribal fiefdoms.

Later he was member of the anti terror alliance which is widely believed to have received American financial support.
